Well Sharon, your asked for postings from the classmates and you certainly got them !!! Isn't it a bit sad that at our age now, we seem to report on all the medical issues that we have gone through ?
First, to let everyone know that last week, Bill was able to get together for a golfing week at Dave Brown's condo in North Myrtle Beach (actually Sunset Beach, North Carolina) - joining Dave and Bill were John Frey and Terry Noonan. Unlike the last time they tried to do this several years ago and were rained out the ENTIRE week, this year they played 4 days of golf on some of the local courses and a good time was had by all - everyone was in bed by shortly after 9 PM most evenings - at least that's the story they tell - HA !!
In regards to Bill Orr's post about the skin cancers - my Bill can sympathize with his experience. He has had several different Basal Cell skin cancers removed by the MOHS procedure, including one on the very top of his head. In late April he had one on the tip of his left ear removed, and the doctor had to go in 3 layers before getting clear margins - at the same appointment, trhe doctor removed another tiny "bump" on his right nostril, and that took two layers being sent to Patholgy before clear cells. When you were a red headed, freckled face kid that always got sunburned, this is not an unusual situation. His dermatologist is now planning to put his entire face and neck under the "blue light" treatment, which he says will find make him look like a very bad sunburn for several days (has to stay inside) and will peel off all the pre-cancerous Basal Cellplaces .
Our summer travel plans are family focused - going to Atlantic Beach,FL the end of June to see our youngest granddaughter, Tatum, perform in her year end Dance Recital. She is in 4 numbers and is really excited and loves her snazzy costumes - typical 7 year old. I do have to brag a little about her - she has been blessed with a very sweet voice and a love of musical theater and will be performing at a dinner theater in Jacksonville, FL this summer, with a small part in Beauty & The Beast. She takes musical theater and voice lessons at a children's theater called "Players By The Sea" and last weekend she was in Cinderella. Her sister, Aila, who is 10 and finishing up 4th grade, leaves the day after school is out for 3 weeks in Texas for Gynmastics Training Camp. She went to this same camp for 2 weeks last summer. It is run by Bella Karoyli, who was the USA Olympic Coach for the girls team that brought home all the Godl Medals in 1996 in Atlanta. Aila lives and breaths gymnastics, spending 4 hours a day, Monday through Friday, training in her local gym. They are both very sweet little girls, although Aila is growing up way too fast - seems like the past 10 years have rushed by - wish I could have frozen them in time for a couple years !!! It's wonderful to see your own children raising their kids now - however, the world is entirely CRAZY, with so much pressure now, and they are exposed to more than we ever were......parenting in these times is challenging ! I look back at my first 17 1/2 years in Fort Madison and consider myself really blessed to have been raised there. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion and can already taste those tenderloins and Sterzings potato chips !!!! YUM !
