Charlie grew up across the street from on Avenue G. He was a friend and playmate at Jefferson Grade School. Most people seemed to think Charlie "marched to a different drum beat" - but he didn't mind being HIMSELF. He was extremely well read and could always think outside of the box. Bill and I were so happy when he found happiness with Janet - I also bet he was one heck of a good teacher- he was another Mrs. Van Tyle - inspiring students with stories outside of Iowa ! Rest in peace !!!
