Sally Morton (Trancoso)

My first memory and fondest was the first day of kindergarten.  I was talking too much and the teacher, Miss Schier, told me I had to stay after school.  Dave was seated across from me at a table. I started crying because I knew no one would be around after school, and I had to walk home alone.  David took my hand and said, Don't worry, Sally, I'll stay after school and wait for you on the steps and walk you home. He walked with me that night and for several times after that.  We were inseparable, for a very long time.  We used to talk about that and several other memories we shared.  His wife, Chris, took me aside at the first reunion and asked me if the stories were true, as he told her several stories about us. He was such a gentleman, from the first day I met him until his last.  Those of us who went to Jefferson, or anyone for that matter, will always remember him with great affection.
