Great picture.  So nice so many could be there.  Love to attend one but it’s a little far to go to lunch from TX.  Hope to see you all at the next reunion though.

Marcia Conley (Davis)

Sharon reminded me recently that I had not updated my Profile or commented on the Message Forum for over 6 months.  How quckly time passes!  A major reason is I have had health issues since October 2018.  I have circulation problems, first my left leg.  I was a patient of Wound Care for 8 months, 1-2 times a week, 8 weeks of hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments, 5 days a week, 2 hours a day.  Vascular surgery May 2019 to seal off a collapsed vein.  Then, in September 2019, the same ciculation problem appeared on my right leg.  1-2 times a week to Wound Care and I am scheduled for the same vascular procedure on December 27, 2019 to seal off another collapsed vein.

2 weeks ago, I had my second cataract surgery.   I had 3 asthma attacks in September 2019 requiring hospital stays.  I recently had a chair lift installed in my townhouse so I can go up and down the stairs.  What a Blessing!.  I wish I had done it sooner.  And, I use a cane for balance.  Who is getting old???

Through it all, I have continued to work in my tax firm and traveling with the tax seminars I have done for almost 30 years..I am slowly cutting back on the traveling but NO RETIREMENT from doing tax returns.

I plan on attending the 60th Reunion Class of '61 in September 2021.

I am in recovery mode and plan to be back to my normal self in the next few months.  I have found that I am blessed with family, friends and loving and loyal clients of my tax firm.

Enjoy each new day because no one knows how many are left.  Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Marcia...so sorry to hear about all your health issues.  You certainly have had allot on your plate. Glad you are still able to work as it seems to keep you centered and gives you resilience. At our age I'm sure most of us are dealing with aging problems. We just hope we can "bounce back" from them when they hit us.  Thinking our "glass is half full" instead of " half empty" can go along way in recovery. It seems that is your way of thinking!

Looking forward to 2021 reunion when we come together to celebrate 60 years out of high school. What a milestone that will be!

Happy Thanksgiving & Merry Christmas to you. Wishing 2020 is a great year for you!

Nancy

My brother, Dick (Class of '57), told me years ago that aging is not for sissies.  I believe several of us can relate?  I think it might have been a saying by Red Skelton, "When I wake up in the morning and don't smell flowers or hear organ music, I get out of bed." (Not an exact quote.)  My favorite reply to people that tell me to have a nice day, is, "I'm workin' on it".  Anyway, am in beautiful, sunny and warm/cold CO for a few weeks house and dog sitting while family heads off to Australia/NZ where my granddaughter is studying abroad.  I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas.  Yes, I said, "Merry Christmas."

So glad to be back on the website...recently bought a new computer & couldn't remember my password. A HUGE thanks to Sharon for her help...you saved my day. It's frustrating sometimes. Sorry...I know I've forgotten a few birthdays. Really enjoyed the last luncheon at Wever...I think we forgot to take a pic of everyone. Missed the ones who didn't make it. Hope to see more next month back in Ft. Mad. at River Rock. You are doing a great job Nancy...we all appreciate your effort to organize the group.

Bill and I want to add to Nancy's last post with a wish for all of our classmates to have a Happy Thanksgiving !  If you are traveling, BE SAFE - if you are home and your family is traveling to you, then may they also be safe.  But, most of all, celebrate with grateful hearts for all the blessings our Lord has so graciously given to us !  If you are reading this, then you have had the gift of life for over three quarters of a century - truly something to be thankful for !  May we remember those classmates who have gone ahead of us to their heavenly home and pray their families keep their memory alive in their hearts.

We have a bright day here in eastern North Carolina, but there is FROST on the pumpkin in my front yard.  That isn't keeping Bill from a 9:30 AM tee time for a round of golf with his buddies - he's dressed for the weather and happy to be enjoying his favorite past time....the high today is forecast for almost 60.   Meanwhile, I'm making plans to get our turkey thawed and make a few Thanksgiving standards ahead of time.  Our oldest son, Jay, will be joining us for Thursday & Friday, and we will eat in the Dining Room here at Cypress Glen for the huge Thanksgiving Buffet - but, we like "leftovers" too much, so I still bake a small turkey and make dressing.  We plan to watch lots of football over the weekend and cheer on Iowa to beat Nebraska in their final Big Ten Game.  With another win under their belt, they should get a major BOWL invitation !  GO HAWKS !!!

We'll head to Atlantic Beach, FL for Christmas with our younger son, Joe, and his family.  I miss the days when our granddaughters still believed in Santa - but they are growing up too quickly - now almost 11 and 14.  Since they are our only grandchildren, we ahower them with lots of love and try to see them every few months - even with the 500 mile distance between us !  Hopefully, they are planning to spend their school Spring Break here in North Carolina with us - but if Tatum (the 11 yr old) is performing during that time, we'll make some alternative plans.  She was in New York City last week for a "Call Back" audition for the revived Broadway Musical "The Music Man", which will open in October of 2020.  She had originally auditioned a couple months ago and was thrilled to get the second chance for 2 different parts........no word as yet, and the competition is REALLY tough, but she's always got a positive attitude and handles herself so well when she isn't chosen...........so proud of all she has accomplished and her dreams of performing.  Her big sister, Aila, will head on to HIgh School next August - she was elected Captain of her Middle School Cheerleading Team this year (was a co-captain last year) and practices diving year round for the school team, the Landon Lions !!!  School classes have changed so much - she is taking Geometry this year and also Biology - we never had those offered until 10th Grade and she's in 8th !!!

Didn't intend to write so much, but happy to stay in touch with everyone - Sandy (Ruppenkamp) and David Brown are coming down from Delaware in mid-December for a few days visit - we'll celebrate our December birthdays while they are here.

Again, Happy Thanksgiving !!!

On this Thanksgiving Day, I would like to offer the immortal words of J.R.R. Tolkien's Bilbo Baggins: "I don't know half of you half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve."

Celebrated Thanksgiving in CO.  Planned to start driving back to WI tomorrow, Sunday.  However, due to high winds and blowing snow, delaying my departure to Monday.  Hope all FMHS 1961 graduates had a safe holiday with family and friends.  Remember, 60 year reunion in 2021. Put it on your calendar.
