Bill and I want to add to Nancy's last post with a wish for all of our classmates to have a Happy Thanksgiving ! If you are traveling, BE SAFE - if you are home and your family is traveling to you, then may they also be safe. But, most of all, celebrate with grateful hearts for all the blessings our Lord has so graciously given to us ! If you are reading this, then you have had the gift of life for over three quarters of a century - truly something to be thankful for ! May we remember those classmates who have gone ahead of us to their heavenly home and pray their families keep their memory alive in their hearts.
We have a bright day here in eastern North Carolina, but there is FROST on the pumpkin in my front yard. That isn't keeping Bill from a 9:30 AM tee time for a round of golf with his buddies - he's dressed for the weather and happy to be enjoying his favorite past time....the high today is forecast for almost 60. Meanwhile, I'm making plans to get our turkey thawed and make a few Thanksgiving standards ahead of time. Our oldest son, Jay, will be joining us for Thursday & Friday, and we will eat in the Dining Room here at Cypress Glen for the huge Thanksgiving Buffet - but, we like "leftovers" too much, so I still bake a small turkey and make dressing. We plan to watch lots of football over the weekend and cheer on Iowa to beat Nebraska in their final Big Ten Game. With another win under their belt, they should get a major BOWL invitation ! GO HAWKS !!!
We'll head to Atlantic Beach, FL for Christmas with our younger son, Joe, and his family. I miss the days when our granddaughters still believed in Santa - but they are growing up too quickly - now almost 11 and 14. Since they are our only grandchildren, we ahower them with lots of love and try to see them every few months - even with the 500 mile distance between us ! Hopefully, they are planning to spend their school Spring Break here in North Carolina with us - but if Tatum (the 11 yr old) is performing during that time, we'll make some alternative plans. She was in New York City last week for a "Call Back" audition for the revived Broadway Musical "The Music Man", which will open in October of 2020. She had originally auditioned a couple months ago and was thrilled to get the second chance for 2 different parts........no word as yet, and the competition is REALLY tough, but she's always got a positive attitude and handles herself so well when she isn't chosen...........so proud of all she has accomplished and her dreams of performing. Her big sister, Aila, will head on to HIgh School next August - she was elected Captain of her Middle School Cheerleading Team this year (was a co-captain last year) and practices diving year round for the school team, the Landon Lions !!! School classes have changed so much - she is taking Geometry this year and also Biology - we never had those offered until 10th Grade and she's in 8th !!!
Didn't intend to write so much, but happy to stay in touch with everyone - Sandy (Ruppenkamp) and David Brown are coming down from Delaware in mid-December for a few days visit - we'll celebrate our December birthdays while they are here.
Again, Happy Thanksgiving !!!
